WINNIPEG (December 18, 2008) – Staff at DMT Development Systems Inc. showed their generosity and true holiday spirit this year by raising $26,000 through individual employee contributions and working with a local school to fill Christmas hampers to be donated to families in need.
DMT participated in an annual Christmas food hamper program organized by the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church as part of Winnipeg’s Christmas Cheer Board. DMT employees responded to the economic situation facing many people this Christmas by raising a record amount of money for the purchase of foods and gifts. In all, the Church was able to purchase $30,000 in goods that included 1700 pounds of turkey, 300 can of tomato sauce and cases of canned goods.
Because of the size of the endeavor this year, the Church moved the operation of packing the food hampers to the gymnasium of Beautiful Savior Lutheran School. The gym was converted into a miniature supermarket to facilitate sorting and packing. DMT employees helped students at the school fill hampers with food and gifts that are being delivered today. In all, 127 families – and over 400 children – will receive the packages.
"We’ve helped fund the Christmas hamper program for the past four years," said Glen Demetrioff, president of DMT. "I’m extremely proud of the overwhelming support of our employees. They truly understand the meaning of Christmas."
