WINNIPEG (October 10, 2014) — In keeping with its core value of playing an active role in the community to make a positive difference, DMT Development Systems Group Inc. has donated 35 desktop computers, 18 laptops and 9 monitors to the Electronic Recycling Association.
The hardware will be evaluated and, where it functions at a high level, it will be passed along to worthy organizations seeking computers.
The ERA is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 in response to the growing electronic waste problem. The electronic recycling industry has many players but few place as much focus on reuse and community investment as the ERA. The ERA’s priority is to reuse anything with productive life remaining.
For DMT’s computers, the ERA will pick up the equipment and bring it back to their facility where it will undergo data wiping and reuse evaluation. Items that show reuse potential will be refurbished and readied for re-use. The final destination of the hardware will depend on the donation requests and the condition of the equipment.
Anything that doesn’t have remaining productive life will be passed along to one of the ERA’s accredited recycling partners that assure responsible processing and a zero landfill contribution.
The ERA has developed long-term partnerships with charitable organizations within communities across Canada and receive donation requests on a daily basis.
