New dealer websites, streamlined lead management from VW Canada

AJAX, Ontario (May 27, 2009) – Canadian Volkswagen dealers’ digital marketing will get a boost from a turbocharged suite of specialized on-line tools that will help bring a consistent face to dealership web sites, efficiently manage and track leads, and streamline how dealers and the company handle the data from customer relationship management (CRM) activities.

The multi-pronged initiative is the result of an expanded partnership between Volkswagen Canada and DMT Development Systems Group Inc. of Winnipeg, and increases the areas where the two companies work together to support the 129 Volkswagen dealers across the country.

Car shoppers will see new dealer websites as part of a comprehensive enhancement of Canadian dealers’ on-line presence. DMT will provide dealers with customizable websites featuring a common look and an array of helpful tools such as a configurator and payment estimator, used vehicle inventory search tool, and interactive hours and directions feature among other innovations.

One of the biggest changes will see on-line shoppers visiting dealer sites provided with VW product information directly from the company’s product specification and feature data rather than from a third-party source, thus ensuring consistency in terms and presentation.

Behind the new public face for Canada’s VW dealers resides a host of new tools for both the dealers and the company that will help streamline how leads are handled and tracked.

LIVE! LEAD, a DMT system for gathering on-line leads from a variety of disparate sources, directing them to dealers and tracking them from keystroke to showroom door, will be installed along side the enhanced dealer capability. LIVE! LEAD collects and tracks on-line inquiries via search engines, direct input of a URL by a customer, links from sources like banner ads or other sources and funnels them to the dealer, reporting on the source of the inquiry to help dealers and the company assess the effectiveness of advertising and other marketing. The system then keeps track of each lead to determine if it results in a trip to the dealership, a test drive and, ultimately, a sale.

LIVE! LEAD accepts lead information from third-party sources including paid search and CRM suppliers as well as the company’s own sources. It provides the dealer with a single point of access to all incoming leads, including from dealers’ own CRM activities.

Another DMT system, Simple Simon, will be available for dealer and company CRM program management. Simple Simon works hand-in-hand with LIVE! LEAD or other CRM management systems so dealers can continue to use legacy systems.

DMT was selected as the supplier of the Volkswagen-sponsored dealer website program following a rigorous six-month analysis and selection process that brought corporate and dealer representatives together with outside experts to find the best supplier. The dealer website program will begin development in June, undergo pilot testing in October and be rolled out by the end of 2009, DMT executives confirm.

DMT supplied Volkswagen Canada with their vehicle configurator, payment estimator, and dealer locator last year.
