Special award for support of Forces reservist a testament to DMT’s “heart”

OTTAWA (May 29, 2015) — A Special Award for Support to the Reserve Forces has been given to DMT Development Systems Group Inc. of Winnipeg for its progressive policies and flexibility that helped a senior Canadian Forces reservist complete a second tour in Afghanistan.

The award, presented last night at the Canadian War Museum, is a clear testament to DMT’s “support, patience, flexibility and heart,” according to the spouse of a Winnipeg reservist who has completed two international tours with the Canadian Air Force with the help of the company.

Teena Lee, DMT’s Creative Technology Manager and spouse of reservist Sergeant Dylan Lee, joined her husband here as President Glen Demetrioff picked up the award. Dylan is a Canadian Forces recruiter and full-time reservist whose most recent tour in Afghanistan was September 2012 to July 2013.

“DMT was supportive, patient and flexible with my work hours during the whole time,” explains Teena. “They were extremely accommodating in every way, including navigating the emotions and stress of having a loved one away in a war zone. There were good days and bad days, and they just took it all in stride.”

Teena has the demanding job of overseeing all of DMT’s creative initiatives, including multilingual software and website development projects for automotive clients around the world along with ensuring rigorous compliance with their corporate standards — a challenge that is difficult to manage at the best of times. But Teena and Dylan’s then 2-year-old daughter made juggling work and family even harder. “I believe it takes a community to raise a child, and I relied heavily on my community of family and friends,” she says.

“Awards and recognition are always nice, but the real heroes here are Teena and Dylan,” says Demetrioff. “They are the ones who turned their lives upside-down and sacrificed for our nation, for all of us. The kind of commitment they made demands no less from us.”

The award was presented by the Canadian Forces Liaison Council. DMT was the only automotive company to be honoured. Some 23 organizations from across Canada were honoured in seven categories.

For nearly 20 years, DMT has provided the global automotive industry with cutting-edge software focused on improving lead generation and management, information flow, and customer relations for both manufacturers and dealers. DMT serves more than 1,100 clients in more than 20 languages in nearly 30 countries on three continents. A privately held company, DMT is headquartered on the University of Manitoba campus in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with offices in Toronto, Ontario, Paris, France and London, U.K.
