WINNIPEG (December 5, 2011) – An innovative website designed to supply reporters, editors and broadcasters covering the auto industry with timely information about Hyundai Motor America has won a prestigious EPPY™ Award from Editor & Publisher magazine.
The Hyundai Motor America site introduced this fall (http://www.hyundainews.com/) integrates the latest social media tools and video distribution channels in a fast-paced display of news, events and information for journalists following the U.S. arm of the growing international automaker.
The site, designed and created by DMT Development Systems Group inc. of Winnipeg, was awarded Best Automotive Website with under 250,000 unique monthly visitors by a panel of independent judges. The EPPY Awards recognize the best media-affiliated websites across 43 diverse categories and are considered among the most important in an industry based on rapidly changing technology and user expectations.
“We are very proud to have won the EPPY Award for Automotive Website. This award from working journalists means a great deal to Hyundai,” said Hyundai Executive Director of Corporate Communications Chris Hosford. “From the beginning, working with our great design and technical partner DMT, we focused on the needs of our customers, working automotive journalists, when designing the look and operation of our media website. I’m sure it was this intense customer focus that created what is now an award winning site.”
Some of the success of the hyundainews.com design comes from its ease of use, permitting media working against pressing deadlines to access product information, photography, video, specifications and corporate background from a single source.
DMT is a pioneer in the establishment and evolution of media information sites for the auto industry. Today, all major car companies deploy some version of a unique site for media information. The development of news media information sites complements DMT’s core business of creating centrally-controlled, easily administered information systems designed to share data between car dealers and the companies.
DMT serves global and Canadian-based auto manufacturers and their dealers with specialized and sophisticated systems that share information among companies, dealers and customers while improving lead management, customer relations management and their related business processes. A privately held company, DMT has posted double digit growth since its inception and employs more than 75 people at its headquarters on the campus of the University of Manitoba. Additional customer service personnel work directly with the clients in their locations.
